DECATUR, AL – A 36-year-old man died Saturday after a wrong-way collision along the highway in northwest Morgan County.
The accident happened around 11:46 a.m. on US-31 near Fairway Drive Southeast, which is on the south side of Decatur.
Police say the victim was headed southbound when his vehicle entered the northbound lanes of US-31 and collided head-on into a second vehicle.
The wrong-way driver, identified as Billy Hydrick, died at the scene of the crash.
Medics transported the two occupants of the other vehicle to the hospital with non-critical injuries.
A full investigation is underway.
