LIMESTONE COUNTY, AL – An Athens man died Saturday from his injuries in a head-on accident on US-31, AL.com reports.
A man was heading north on US-31 when his 2019 Harley-Davidson motorcycle was hit by a 2013 Volkswagen Jetta. The Volkswagen had been driving in the opposite direction and struck the motorcycle head-on.
The wreck took place at about 7:00 p.m., near Calhoun Community College.
The motorcyclist, a 53-year-old man from Athens, was killed at the scene of the accident.
The Volkswagen’s driver was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident and was arrested for manslaughter and DUI.
