NEAR LAFAYETTE, AL – A 61-year-old woman operating a car was killed when she struck a tractor-trailer head-on on Chambers County 48 before 8:15 a.m. Saturday. The woman — Laverne Brooks, a Camp Hill resident — did not wear a seatbelt and succumbed to fatal injuries at the scene.
