TRUSSVILLE, AL – A fatal vehicle wreck heavily obstructed traffic on I-59 today, according to Trussville Tribune.
The Trussville Police and Fire departments were called to the accident in the northbound lanes of I-59 this morning. A pickup truck and a garbage truck had collided near mile marker 141, TPD reports.
At least one passenger has been killed after the accident.
A lieutenant with the TPD stated that the accident took place due to the road paving.
The highway was closed down between mile markers 141 and 143. Traffic was diverted onto the exit towards Chalkville and motorists were advised to completely avoid the area.
Additional details about the circumstances of the crash are not yet available as the TPD continues to investigate.
